What speed can I get with fibre internet?

One of the benefits of being connected to fibre internet, or fibre to the premises (FTTP), is that you can choose from all the speed plans available.

If you’re connected to FTTP, you can upgrade to plans starting at 100 Mbps, 250 Mbps, and right up to 1000 Mbps, also known as gigabit internet. In fact, FTTP is the only connection that allows speeds above 100 Mbps so if you want faster internet for streaming, gaming and surfing, FTTP is the way to go.

nbn® Fibre Connect program

To trigger an upgrade to FTTP through the nbn® fibre connect program, you just need to place an order for a residential or business FTTP plan with a speed of 100 Mbps or above (that includes 100 Mbps, 250 Mbps, 500 Mbps and 1000 Mbps plans). Within a few days, your FTTP connection will be set up, and you’ll be free to enjoy super fast internet.

Check Address

Upgrade to nbn® fibre internet

If you’re keen to upgrade to fibre internet and take advantage of that speed increase, you need to check your address to find out if you’re eligible for FTTP, or if you’re already connected.

If you’re eligible but not connected, you can trigger an upgrade to FTTP by signing up for one of NodeOne’s three highest residential or business speed tiers. That includes 250 Mbps, 500 Mbps and 1000 Mbps plans.

Within a few weeks, your FTTP connection will be set up, and you’ll be free to enjoy super fast internet.

    FTTP plan FAQs

    What is FTTP?

Fibre to the premises, or FTTP refers to a type of nbn® network technology where fibre-optic cables directly connect individual premises (homes or businesses) to the internet network infrastructure. It offers high-speed internet access with reliable connectivity due to the use of fibre-optic cables, which transmit data using light signals.

How much does it cost to have FTTP installed?

If your address is eligible, FTTP installation is free when you connect to a plan with one of the three highest speed tiers: 250 Mbps, 500 Mbps or 1000 Mbps.

    Is FTTP better than FTTN?

Fibre to the premises (FTTP) offers superior speed and reliability compared to fibre to the node (FTTN).

Can I upgrade my house from FTTN to FTTP?

If your premises are already eligible for a FTTP connection, yes you can upgrade your house from FTTN to FTTP. You can trigger an upgrade simply by placing an order for one of the top speed tiers available (250 Mbps, 500 Mbps or 1000 Mbps) with NodeOne The upgrade should be done for you within a few days without any further action on your part.

    Is FTTP the fastest?

Yes, FTTP is the fastest connection technology available in Western Australia today. FTTP provides faster and more consistent internet speeds compared to other types of connections like ADSL or HFC (Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial).

Does FTTP need a new router?

It depends what kind of router you already have! An FTTP connection requires a compatible router with a WAN or Internet port that will plug into the nbn® connection box. Check the model number of your existing router to be sure.

Do I need a router or modem for NBN FTTP?

FTTP connections will only need a router as the NBN connection box serves as a modem. In the same way as modem routers, independent routers are fairly easy to set up and just need to be plugged into your connection box and a power supply. Find instructions for your particular model online.

How long does it take to upgrade FTTN to FTTP?

The time it takes to upgrade from FTTN to FTTP can vary, but it usually happens within a month. For FTTN customers in urban areas of Western Australia, NBN Co estimates 19 business days, while remote and regional areas can be up to 24 days.
